The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving profitable too, already their client-list consists of McDonald’s.
